Job Summary
The Facilities / Maintenance Assistant will have a general knowledge of heating and cooling, plumbing
and electrical components. Also will provide routine manual work involving general duties in school
buildings, sports center and classrooms. This position also includes working closely with the Director of
Facilities to ensure proper maintenance of buildings and grounds.
Responsibilities
• Maintain the buildings and grounds in such a manner that is conducive to providing the
appropriate atmosphere for learning.
• Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment and repair as needed.
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
• Install and replace light fixtures, light bulbs and ceiling tiles.
• Perform general sheetrock repair and paint walls as necessary.
• Communicate with custodians end ensure buildings are clean and inventory levels of
supplies are adequate at all times.
• Schedule additional work and special projects with teachers and staff.
• Continuously compile a list of “to do” items and complete in a timely and efficient
manner.
• Must be able to prioritize duties and complete as needed without supervision.

• Ability to use common tools such as hammers, saws, drills, wrenches, etc.
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Possess organizational skills and have a good attention to detail.
• Must have good time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Must show analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to function well in a sometimes stressful environment and be able to focus on
the “task at hand” while working individually.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
• Must be able to climb ladders, including extension ladders, and perform work in open
ceilings and on roof of building(s).
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years related maintenance experience required.
