From the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office:
Monday at approximately 11:56 a.m., Sergeant T.J. Grasso while operating on a Virginia DMV selective enforcement speed grant observed a Black Dodge Charger run a stop sign on Stoney Creek Drive and Chinaberry Drive in the Breezewood area.
Sergeant Grasso stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver for a short period and learned that the driver was suspended. When Sergeant Grasso returned to his vehicle to investigate the suspension, the driver speed away at a high rate of speed. Sergeant Grasso quickly pursued the vehicle down Stoney Creek Drive and then onto East bound Courthouse Rd.
When the suspect approached the intersection of Courthouse Road and Hood Drive, the Charger ran the red light striking an Infiniti broadside. The driver of the Charger and his female companion ran into the woods. The female passenger was taken into custody immediately while other Deputies pursed the driver. The driver was apprehended without further incident in a patch of woods a short distance east of the crash.
The driver was identified as Alex Hall, 19-year-old male of Woodbridge, VA who was arrested for felony eluding, driving while suspended, reckless driving, felony hit & run, felony unauthorized use of a vehicle and possession of burglary tools. During the search of the vehicle numerous firearms were recovered.
Mr. Hall was incarcerated under no bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Both occupants in the vehicles involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and were treated at an area hospital. The investigation is still on going and more chargers are expected.
