The Stafford Sheriff’s Office says their newest addition to the paw patrol, K-9 Jynx, was utilized Thursday to help track and locate a subject who had made suicidal statements. Deputies responded to an address in South Stafford for an adult male making concerning statements and attempting to jump out of a car.
When deputies arrived, they learned the man had fled from the vehicle into the wood line. Deputies began establishing a perimeter and canvassing the area, while Deputy A.J. Layug deployed K-9 Jynx for the track. K-9 Jynx was able to track the man’s scent and the man walked out of the woods to Deputy D.T. Aubrecht with K-9 Jynx just a short distance behind.
Deputies provided mental health resources to the man. The Sheriff’s Office says this call illustrates the great value of tracking dogs to locate missing and endangered persons.
