From Northern Neck Electric Cooperative:
Earlier this week, one of our lineworkers responded to a call at 2 AM of a tree on the lines and partially blocking a road.
When the lineworker reached the scene, they discovered that a public bystander had cut portions of the tree, so the bystander could continue driving on the road.
Trees, limbs, and leaves can carry electrical current from the lines through the chainsaw and through the individual causing serious injury or worse.
Our lineworkers have extensive training and specialized equipment to more safely deal with situations like this.
Please do not ever work on or near power lines.
