The shared-use path on Chatham Bridge must temporarily close during daytime hours all week as crews continue work for the bridge rehabilitation project.
The project team will also have daytime lane closures on Route 3 Business between the City of Fredericksburg and Stafford County.
Weather permitting, crews will close the path and have single lane closures each day this week between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. starting Monday, Feb. 7 through Friday, Feb. 11.
Crews need to close the shared-use path to safely stage equipment required to continue substructure repair work improving the bridge’s condition as the $23.4 million rehabilitation project nears completion.
While Chatham Bridge opened to vehicle traffic on Oct. 10, 2021, work underneath the structure and near the bridge approaches has continued. This work is required to improve the long-term maintainability and condition of the structure.
All work is expected to be complete by April 2022.
Additional information can be found on the online project page.
