From the Rappahannock Area Health District: *As expected the number of COVID-19-associated deaths reported to VDH have started to increase, especially deaths occurring in the month of January 2022. Throughout this pandemic, we have seen increases in COVID-19-associated deaths in the few weeks following surges in cases. There is an inherent lag in deaths being reported because of the nature of the disease, the time it takes to investigate and report deaths and the time it takes for death certificates to be processed.
