by | Jan 30, 2022 | Police and Fire

Just before 8p.m. Saturday night, units with Stafford County Fire and Rescue were dispatched for a reported structure fire in the 00 block of Cannon Knolls Drive in Hartwood.  First arriving units found a 30 foot by 30 foot, barn type structure fully involved with fire. The fire was brought under control in less than 10 minutes. Several animals were able to escape the structure, however some did sustain injuries. Stafford Fire and Rescue spokeswoman Katie Brady says the extent of those injuries is not known.

She tells us there were no reported injuries to any humans. The residence adjacent to the barn sustained cosmetic damage from the heat of the fire. Due to the location of the fire, crews had to utilize rural water supply operations to bring water to the scene of the fire however this did not hamper extinguishment of the fire.

The fire is under investigation by the Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office. Stafford was assisted by the Fredericksburg Fire Department, Fauquier County Fire and Rescue and Stafford County Animal Control.
