From the Stafford Sheriff’s Office:

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office has one suspect in custody and is attempting to locate his accomplice regarding two stolen vehicles located in a South Stafford neighborhood.
On January 21st at approximately 7:00 p.m. deputies located two stolen Toyota RAV4’s parked in the area of Thomas Jefferson Place. First Sergeant D.F. Purcell, Jr. and Deputy E.C. Taylor of the Special Problems Unit set up nearby in unmarked vehicles to monitor the stolen cars.
The stakeout didn’t last long. Within a few minutes two suspects exited a townhome and began to enter one of the stolen vehicles. First Sgt. Purcell immediately blocked the stolen car in to prevent a pursuit. Other deputies were notified to converge on the area.
As First Sgt. Purcell activated his emergency lights and ordered the suspects to surrender, the suspects fled into the wood line. Sgt. B.U. Demirci and his faithful K-9 Titan were staged nearby and immediately began a track.  K-9 Titan locked in on the trail of one of the suspects and proceeded through the woods. As the track continued, they passed both of the suspect’s shoes. As the trail neared Garnett Way, the suspect was located trying to climb a steep hill. Sgt. Demirci made an announcement to surrender or the K-9 would be released. The suspect incorrectly judged his ability to outrun K-9 Titan and instead of giving up, turned and fled up the hill.
The suspect was quickly apprehended by K-9 Titan and identified as Justin Dunmore, 25, of Stafford. Dunmore was treated for the dog bite and charged with several counts of possession of stolen property and obstruction of justice. He was found to be wanted in Shenandoah County for a probation violation. Additional charges are pending in Fredericksburg for the theft of the vehicles. Dunmore was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
The second subject was able to evade capture that night, but has been identified as Keith Smith McCord, 26, of Stafford. Warrants are now on file for Smith McCord.
