Spotsylvania School Superintendent Dr. Scott Baker will leave at the end of the school year. The board voted 4-3 to approve a separation agreement. School Board members Phelps, Twigg and Abuismail voted no. Here is part of a parent and staff communication:
Colleagues,
At the school board’s December 13, 2021 meeting, the board approved a mutual and amicable agreement for me to resign my position as superintendent at the end of this school year. I do believe that this agreement is in the best interest of my family and the school division. It will enable the school board to begin a process for transition to new leadership and allow me to consider and pursue other professional opportunities for the future.
In this moment, I am unable to succinctly describe what an honor and joy it has been to serve SCPS in this role for the past decade. While I hope my contributions have made a positive, enduring impact on the quality of education here, I am certain that the students, staff, families and community have enriched my experience and life in immeasurable ways.
Until my final day, I will remain steadfast in my commitment to the current and future success of SCPS by continuing to lead the division through this extraordinary time.
With deepest gratitude,
Scott Baker
