The Stafford Sheriff’s Office says on November 25th at 1:30 p.m. Deputy J.T. Harrod III was off duty, in his personal vehicle, when he witnessed a Dodge Durango run a stop sign at the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway and State Shop Road. Deputy Harrod had to swerve to avoid being hit and he noticed the Durango had flashing red and blue emergency lights. The driver of the Durango promptly turned off the emergency lights and continued north on Jefferson Davis Highway. Deputy Harrod looked at the driver and did not recognize him as a Stafford County deputy.
Deputy Harrod recorded the Durango tag and learned the vehicle was registered in Caroline County. The driver was identified as the registered owner, Filiberto Contreras Jr., 29.  He also had a suspended driver’s license.
Warrants for reckless driving, driving suspended and impersonating a law enforcement officer were obtained. Caroline County Sheriff’s Office was able to arrest Contreras on Friday.   He was released by the magistrate on an unsecured bond.
