A 27-year old Stafford man was arrested Saturday night for a second DUI in ten years. It began when a Stafford deputy initiated a traffic stop at the Ferry Road McDonalds because there were no license plates on the suspect’s vehicle.

The Honda driver parked in the lot and exited his vehicle, walking toward the fast food restaurant. Deputy Taylor instructed him to get back in the car, but he refused and continued walking. Deputy Taylor noticed the driver had bloodshot, glassy eyes and an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and she attempted to detain him.
A struggle ensued in the parking lot as the suspect attempted to avoid the handcuffs. Additional units responded to assist. During the struggle, the suspect was able to get a hand free, expose himself, and urinate in the parking lot.
With the arrival of additional deputies, the suspect was detained and brought to the front of a patrol car. He then purposefully slammed his own head into the patrol car hood, creating a dent in the hood and a cut to his head. Rescue responded to provide first aid for the injury.
The suspect was identified as 27-year old Gabriel Perez of Stafford. Perez was found to have a prior DUI, revoked license and open alcohol containers in the center console. He was ultimately charged with DUI second offense in ten years, driving revoked, obstruction, indecent exposure, vandalism, drinking while driving and the registration offense.
Perez was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
