From the Stafford Sheriff’s Office:
A Stafford man will spend the remainder of the Labor Day weekend behind bars after an early morning theft and pursuit.
On September 5th at 3:11 a.m. deputies responded to a report of a breaking and entering at TJ’s Car Wash, 200 Garrisonville Road. Witnesses reported a suspect was using a crowbar to break into a payment machine at the business.
As deputies arrived, the suspect ran to a Toyota Corolla parked nearby and fled the scene. Deputy B.M. Taylor attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the suspect initiated a pursuit. The suspect drove at a high rate of speed westbound on Garrisonville Road before turning onto Dunn Drive and then Worth Avenue. The suspect disregarded several stop signs before turning right onto Onville Road.
The pursuit continued down Onville Road and then turned right onto Evans Lane, which unfortunately for the suspect is a dead end street. Upon reaching the end of Evans Lane, the suspect attempted to turn around and head back toward Onville Road, but Deputy M.A. Holub, who had arrived to assist in the pursuit, was able to use intentional vehicle contact to end the chase.
The suspect was ordered out of the vehicle and detained without incident. He was identified as Jason Razawich, 24. A necklace Razawich was wearing had a small cavity containing a suspected controlled substance. Brass knuckles were located in one of Razawich’s pockets. A search of the vehicle revealed burglary tools and a flare gun which had been painted black.
Deputies determined Razawich had used the crowbar to pry into the payment machine at the business and steal the money box. The stolen money box was thrown from the car during the pursuit, but was recovered and returned to the business.
Razawich was charged with felony eluding, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a controlled substance, vandalism, possession of burglary tools and petit larceny. He was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
