From the Stafford Sheriff’s Office:
On July 21 at approximately 4:20 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center received several calls reporting a pedestrian had been struck in the parking lot of Lidl (1175 Warrenton Road). Deputies arrived on scene within minutes and found the male victim.
The victim, Daniel Junco, 49, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the striking vehicle, a white 2019 Chevrolet Silverado towing a tandem axle trailer, was located nearby. The investigation revealed the driver and victim were known to each other. The driver, Jared Carter, 24, of Stedman, North Carolina, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in this case. Carter is currently being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
The case is being investigated by members of the Criminal Investigations Division and Traffic Safety Unit.
