From King George Fire and Rescue:

Our department, the Naval District Washington Fire Department (Co. 28) and the KG Sheriff’s Office, along with several other surrounding law enforcement agencies recently had the good fortune to receive a training opportunity like no other – a 10,000 square foot acquired structure in which to conduct live training in.

This unique type of training affords our providers a much more in depth perspective into the functions of the profession, as opposed to a typical burn building or simulation-type facility where there aren’t very many flexible variables to learn from or exercise. Our department, in conjunction with crews from NDW Co. 28 conducted three live-burn sessions over the past week, and during these sessions, firefighters were able to practice live fire suppression, search and rescue, truck co., and RIT strategies and operations within a realistic residential-type environment.

We’d like to profusely thank the donators of this structure for this wonderful opportunity to be able to practice these imperative skills to ensure that we are capable of keeping our citizens safe. We’d also like to thank the Rehab 1 crew, the Medic 1B crew, Chief Bartenfelder from NDW Bethesda, the Training Division, and all of our providers who came out to support and take part in these training sessions.

This training would not have been successful without the dedication, time and efforts that were given by all. We’d lastly like to thank the final burn crew for safely and effectively conducting the final controlled burn of the structure. Please enjoy these shots from our training sessions and final burn!
