From the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office:
On June 19, 2021, at approximately 2:15AM, deputies responded to the area of Lee’s Hill shopping center located off Spotsylvania Avenue for an assault in progress with shots fired. When deputies arrived, they encountered a large chaotic crowd. Deputies requested assistance from Fredericksburg Police Department to assist with gaining control where they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
The twenty-three-year-old victim was provided first aid by deputies until paramedics arrived on scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition and has undergone surgery.
Evidence collected at the scene suggest that a large crowd had exited an area restaurant once it was time to close. The crowd had congregated throughout the Lee Hill Shopping center parking lot when the fight broke out. Evidence collected also suggested that there were multiple shooters involved.
At approximately 3:30AM deputies were called to a home on Daffodil Drive for a shooting call. Deputies arrived and located a single residence that had multiple gun shots into the dwelling with no reported injuries.
At approximately 4:55AM deputies were called to a home on Terra Springs Drive for shooting call. Deputies arrived and located a single residence that had multiple gun shots into the dwelling with no reported injuries.
The series of shootings are being investigated by Detectives who believe that some of the shootings are related. Detectives continue their investigation, and no additional details are currently available.
