An Orange County woman has been charged with second-degree murder after a shooting in Barboursville left a man dead Wednesday, June 16.  The Sheriff’s Office says deputies investigated a shooting on Hamm Farm Road in Orange at 7pm.

36-year old James Manning was found dead of a gunshot wound.   As deputies and Virginia State Police investigated the crime scene, information led them to 37-year old Brianna Knicely of Gordonsville.  Her vehicle was stopped in the early morning hours Thursday.

Knicely has since been charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting into an occupied dwelling.  She’s being held at the Central Virginia Regional Jail.
