Fredericksburg Muslim Youth will host its first annual Muslim Women’s Day panel event on March 27th at 7PM EST in an effort to dispel negative
stereotypes associated with Muslim women, particularly in the Western world. The virtual panel will be held via the digital meeting platform, Zoom. Registration is open until March 26th, but attendees are encouraged to register before March 24th to enter an exclusive
giveaway.

Fredericksburg Muslim Youth (FMY) is the only youth organization for Muslims in the Fredericksburg area. Following years of blatant islamophobia in the locality, two Chancellor High School students decided to take action by founding FMY in the summer of 2020. Amirah Ahmed and Amatul Musawir are using their local organization and the strength in social media to power their upcoming event. This year’s Muslim Women’s Day panel features seven
outstanding changemakers including the likes of renowned activist Linda Sarsour and Virginia Senator Ghazala Hasmi, amongst others.
FMY Co-founder and Director of Internal Affairs, Amirah Ahmed says:
“This year’s event is dedicated to educating non-Muslims about their role as allies to the Muslim
community and uplifting the voices of Muslim women in the West. This event is a great
opportunity to bring people of all backgrounds together for a good cause.”
The panel will include speaking time from each panelist as well as a Q&A session for attendees. These two Chancellor High School seniors encourage Fredericksburg locals to attend and become part of their effort towards inclusivity and positive community action.
