VDOT says emergency repair plans are under development, and will be announced as soon as details are confirmed. Through travelers should follow the detour route, which is Route 2 to East Broaddus Avenue in the Town of Bowling Green to Route 301. The detour route between New Post and Port Royal is around 24 miles, compared with around 15 miles when traveling directly between these points on Route 17.
