Stafford Fire and Rescue reports a structure fire late Sunday morning at Goodwill Industries located on Doc Stone Drive. Callers reported a trash compactor was on fire.
First arriving units found smoke coming from multiple doors of the building and confirmed the fire in the trash compactor, which was beginning to spread. Units quickly extinguished the fire before it could extend into the rest of the building.
The building is equipped with an automatic sprinkler system, which activated and helped to suppress the fire. There were no injuries.
Stafford County Fire and Rescue units were assisted by Quantico Fire and Emergency Services and Prince William County Fire and Rescue. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The estimated fire loss value was $5000.
