by | Nov 2, 2020 | Government

Stafford County will hold its annual Veterans Day Ceremony this Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Armed Services Memorial on the Stafford County Government campus. As Stafford County is still in Phase III of the Covid-19 reopening plan, the public is encouraged to watch Facebook Live online as attendees will be asked to wear a mask and socially distance. The ceremony will be streamed on Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/staffordcountygovernment.

The keynote speaker for the ceremony is Brigadier General Allison Hickey, (Ret.), USAF. General Hickey was in the first group of women admitted to the United States Air Force Academy. She served as a pilot and aircraft commander during her military career. She served as head of the Air Force’s Future Total Force Directorate, Assistant Deputy Director of Air Force Strategic Planning and Air Force Future Concepts and Transformation Division Chief. Her public service culminated in being the Under Secretary for the Veterans Benefits Administration. Currently, she is the CEO/President of All In Solutions, a local company.

Out of deference to other local observations, the Veterans Day ceremony takes place annually on the Friday before Veterans Day. The memorial is located on the west side of the campus of the George L. Gordon, Jr., Government Center, 1300 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554. Bricks purchased since Veterans Day 2019 have been installed and will be available for viewing.
