Eileen Sousa with the Health Department tells us in addition to other precautions, it remains important to stay home (including from work and running errands) if you are sick or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
In addition to temperature checks that may be in place as you enter the office, she says do a mental scan to see if you are experiencing a new cough, sore throat, chills, nausea, muscle aches, or any of the other symptoms listed on the CDC website.
In the workplace, she says, managers and supervisors can also have a big impact in preventing the spread of disease by communicating to employees to stay home when sick and supporting them when they need to do so. Sousa says consider whether employees at your organization know the steps necessary to call in sick, and whether they would feel comfortable doing so if they experience symptoms.
She says, remember that not everyone with COVID-19 will experience a fever, so symptom checks may need to go beyond a temperature check.
