Unemployment claims in the state are on the rise. Just last week, nearly 150-thousand residents in Virginia filed for unemployment. That marks the third consecutive week of record breaking numbers in people needing financial help. For the week ending April 4th,the Virginia Employment Commission says Spotsylvania led the region with nearly 23-hundred claims. Up from 17-hundred the week before. Stafford had 2,263 claims. Up from about 17-hundred. Fredericksburg went from 435 to 541. Caroline 372 to 435. King George 237 to 257.
