City School Board receives 34 applications for Superintendent

From the Frederickburg School Board:

On Tuesday, October 1st school board members met during an early morning closed session meeting to review applicants for the vacant Division Superintendent position. Jennifer Boyd, School Board Chairperson, released the following information later in the afternoon. Ms. Boyd stated that there were in total 40 inquiries about the position with 34 full applications submitted.

Ms. Boyd detailed that of those 34 applicants experience ranged. There were 15 current or former superintendents who applied as well as 9 assistant, associate, or deputy superintendents. Also included in the applications were 8 central office administrators and 2 building level administrators.

The group of applicants included 26 men and 8 women. There were 18 Virginia residents and 16 out of state applicants. Out of state applicants were from numerous states across the nation.

Ms. Boyd stated that, “We are very excited and appreciative of the extreme interest in this position and our city. The FCPS school board looks forward to selecting a highly qualified candidate to lead our school system into the future.” The school board has a regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Monday, October 7, 2019. More information about the search process will be disclosed at that time.
