Stop by and enjoy games as they were in the 18th century! Some we don’t hear much about today and others we know by different names. Members of the Rappahannock Colonial Heritage Society will be on hand to engage you. The event is included with the tour admission fee.
July 4, 2019 – Public Reading of the Declaration of Independence
1pm & 3pm at the Hugh Mercer Apothecary Shop
Join us on the steps of the Hugh Mercer Apothecary Shop as we celebrate our independence. There will be a live reading of the Declaration of Independence at 1 PM and again at 3 PM. This event is open and free to the public.
July 12, 2019 – War & Whiskey
6:30pm – 8:30pm at the Rising Sun Tavern
Rye, Corn, Irish, Scotch, Bourbon it has many variations. Source of rebellion, respite, laws, and taxes. Used as medicine, currency, and rations. Join us for an evening of tastings and conversation on whiskey, its influence, and storied history.
Timed tickets are $20 for members and $25 for the general public. For the comfort and enjoyment of our guests, tickets are sold by timed entry. RSVPs are encouraged by purchasing tickets in advance on Facebook or by going to the Washington Heritage Museums Website. All ticket sales are non-refundable. Washington Heritage Museums will join museums nationwide in participating in the tenth summer of Blue Star Museums, a program which provides free admission to our nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families this summer. The 2019 program began earlier than in past years, launching on Saturday, May 18, 2019, Armed Forces Day, and ending on Monday, September 2, 2019, Labor Day. In addition to the Mary Washington House, Rising Sun Tavern, and Hugh Mercer Apothecary Shop, military can find the full list of participating museums here.
The free admission program is available for those currently serving in the United States Military—Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard as well as members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps, and up to five family members. Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card for entrance into a participating Blue Star Museum.
