City Council passes gun resolution ahead of special General Assembly session

by | Jun 26, 2019 | Government

The resolution says local government needs to be given more options. Right now localities cannot ban guns from public buildings or land. Making it a local option is expected to be discussed in Richmond.

City Councilmen Chuck Frye and Matt Kelly voted no on the resolution. Councilman Frye said in the past he’s reached out to state officials about his gun give-back and has received no reply. Councilman Kelly says it’s an issue that needs more serious debate with rights vs. safety discussed.

Here are the comments from council members.
