Upon closing the parking area last week, County officials have finished paving the entrance to the parking area along with working with VDOT to remove and clear trees and brush to improve the sightlines along the road. This project was completed to improve the safety and visibility at the entrance to aid in the prevention of further accidents.
The Board of Supervisors shut down the area after hearing from Colonial Forge High School students after the death of a classmate. 17-year old Helen Wang was killed as she attempted to turn onto Kellogg Mill Road from the boat ramp’s parking area.
