The Sheriff’s Office says on May 1st at about 11:30pm. Sgt. L.A. Burgess responded to a reported disturbance at the Aquia Best Western. Upon arrival, he made contact with an employee who advised that a female had robbed the hotel. The employee said the subject came into the hotel appearing distraught and asked for a room, but had no identification. The employee informed her that she could not rent a room without identification. The subject then asked for a tissue and to use the restroom.

The employee then momentarily stepped away from the front desk to locate the key to the restroom. When he returned, he observed that the subject had grabbed a chair and was climbing over the counter. When the employee asked her what she was doing, she told him she was robbing the business.

The employee attempted to stop the subject, but she shoved him and left with the register. She retreated to a back area of the hotel where she emptied some of the cash from the register into her clothing and purse. The employee managed to grab the suspect, prompting her to attempt to bite him. A customer witnessed the incident and called 911.
