Spotsylvania Supervisors debated and voted on a number of tax rate and budget scenarios. A divided board finally agreed on an 84.74 cent tax rate that provides 3 million dollars in new money to schools. That still leaves the school board with a nine million dollar gap. Voting no on the budget: Ross, Trampe and McLaughlin. No supervisor explained his yes or no vote.
The board had previously approved the largest piece of land for the proposed solar project in Western Spotsylvania. Two smaller parcels were approved Thursday night. Supervisor Trampe voted for the one tract of land approved by the Planning Commission but voted against two others. Supervisor Ross opposed all three.
The solar facility will be one of the largest in the country with about 1.8 million solar panels on three sections of a 6, 300 acre site. No supervisor explained his yes or no vote.
