The main goal of the City’s website redesign is to increase ease of navigation and access to information with a focus on ADA accessibility so we can meet the needs of all our users. Global navigation buttons and our new transparency button make finding important information easier than ever before. This redesign incorporates responsive website design and intuitive navigation. Providing our citizens with a website that effectively communicates our core services in an easy and welcoming environment is our top priority. This advancement in website functionality also supports City Council’s stated vision for providing public services as the backbone of our community.
“We
formed a Website Design Committee comprised of employees from many departments
along with IT professionals to help determine the most important features to
meet citizen needs,” said Suzanne Tills, Chief Information Officer.
Along
with the new redesign, the City introduces a new Open Data Portal which seeks to enhance our
transparent government offerings with easy access to public information. Look
for the Transparency button accessible from the bottom of every page on
the website. It assists citizens who are visiting the website to search for and
download a variety of data including GIS data, reports, mapping applications
and more. Visitors will find some of our most requested data items in this open
data portal and we will be continuously adding content.
“The
website has been redesigned with the end-user in mind and there are many new
components that are easy to navigate,” said Kim Williams, IT Business Analyst.
“We are excited about the launch of our new site and look forward to hearing
feedback on all the new elements.”
