Fredericksburg, VA – This Monday, February 25th, you will get to meet Caelynn’s family on the next episode of “The Bachelor”. Caelynn Miller-Keyes, who grew up here in the Fredericksburg area, is one of four final bachelorettes who will be showing off their hometown during a special two-hour episode.

“The Bachelor” is a popular two-hour prime-time reality television series on ABC network in which thirty women vie for the romance of one man. Now, in its 23rd season, the bachelor is Colton Underwood, a former NFL player, who traveled to Fredericksburg for his date with Caelynn.

When asked about their daughter’s appearance on “The Bachelor,” Stafford resident Jai-Leah Miller Kamenicky, Caelynn’s mother, said, “Our experience has been very positive…from the producers before, during and after filming, to the amazing production crew during the hometown shoot. Everyone has been professional and courteous and has had Caelynn’s best interests at heart. While this is an entertainment show, I believe it has sparked some important and necessary conversations. We are really proud of Caelynn for her strength, courage, and determination.”

When Fredericksburg Mayor Mary Katherine Greenlaw first received the call from the show’s producers, she was supportive of their visit. “Fredericksburg is a wonderful place to spend time, with a variety of options for those who love authentic history, vibrant arts, eco/river tours, unique shopping, and great food! We were thrilled to share all that our City has to offer!” Filming for next week’s episode actually took place earlier last fall in Historic Downtown. At that time, the city’s Special Event Coordinator, Kim Herbert, worked with the television directors, producers, and camera crew to scout for locations and coordinate just the right date spots for the T.V. couple.

When it was time to film, City staff from Public Works, Parks & Recreation and the Police Department helped facilitate a full 10 hour day of filming in downtown. Additionally, the University of Mary Washington offered Brompton, the historic home of the University president, as a setting for Colton and Caelynn’s date. “We are proud of our campus. It’s a beautiful treasure of tradition and history. And we were happy that Colton and Caelynn were able to experience it, too,” said Troy Paino, president of the University of Mary Washington.

UMW students, local businesses and residents may have the opportunity to see their own favorite date spots on national television next Monday night. We can confirm that the couple was spotted at the Fredericksburg Area Museum on Princess Anne Street as well as strolling and shopping along Caroline Street. You may be asking yourself, “What is a date in Fredericksburg without Carl’s Ice Cream and a carriage ride?” Could this be in store for Caelynn and Colton’s date? Be sure to tune in to “The Bachelor” to find out! Watch for your hometown on “The Bachelor” airing Monday, February 25th at 8:00 p.m.
