Stafford, VA. – Two wanted suspects were arrested on Monday by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office at a Wawa convenience store located in the southern end of the county.
On December 17, 2018, at approximately 11:41 a.m., patrol units observed a suspect wanted for failure to appear on a driving suspended offense at the Wawa located at 9 South Gateway Drive. Deputy Layug approached the suspect and asked for his identification. The suspect refused and the deputy subsequently attempted to detain him.
The suspect then fled from the deputy. A citizen blocked the suspect’s path, enabling the deputy to apprehend the suspect.
Kody Eli Banks, 26, of Stafford was taken into custody and served his outstanding warrant as well as an additional charge for obstruction of justice. He was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
In the meantime, deputies made contact with the suspect’s brother, Michael Lee Banks, 39, of Stafford, who was also at the Wawa. Deputies learned the suspect was wanted out of Caroline County and Stafford County for probation violations. He was taken into custody. A search of the suspect yielded a controlled substance.
Michael Banks was served his outstanding warrants and received additional charges of possession of a controlled substance and driving suspended. He was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
