From the Virginia State Fair
The State Fair of Virginia needs your help! Volunteers are needed daily, Sept. 28-Oct. 7, 2018. The SFVA welcomes groups, schools and individuals. With opportunities to help foster agricultural education, scholarship programs, outdoor concerts and family-friendly events, volunteering at the fair offers something for everyone!
These are a few of the opportunities for volunteers at the State Fair of Virginia, and there are always additional needs that arise. We appreciate your stewardship:
- Information Volunteers
This friendly group greets fairgoers and assists them with finding attractions and amenities such as wheelchairs, restrooms and ATMs. - Arts and Crafts Volunteers
Be a docent for the hundreds of entries Virginians submit for competition at the fair. Monitor the exhibits, offer information to fairgoers and keep the area in tip-top shape. - Greeter at the Ticket Plaza
Give guests a friendly welcome as they enter the fair, and distribute daily guides. Assist with finding attractions, food and events. - Harvest Landing Helper
Answer questions and share information about competition entries in the crops section of Young MacDonald’s Farm. Point fairgoers toward the various gardens, and share details about the exciting exhibits in Heritage Village and the Horticulture Pavilion. - Firefighter Combat Challenge Volunteer
Help with the professional firefighters and the Kid’s Firefighter Challenge. These events are held on Sept. 28th & 29th and are sure to offer a rewarding experience. Volunteers commit to volunteering all day. They recieve:- 1 day ticket to use for day off event
- 1 day return ticket to enjoy the fair
- Food voucher
- Firefighter Combat Challenge t-shirt
