From The Fredericksburg-Nepal Exchange
The Fredericksburg-Nepal Exchange is happy to welcome a delegation from Kathmandu to Fredericksburg!
We look forward to immersing the Kathmandu delegation in the rich culture and history of Downtown Fredericksburg. Their visit will include a trolley tour, visit to the University of Mary Washington, breakfast with the Rotary Club, and an outdoor experience with River Rock Outfitter and Friends of the Rappahannock. In addition, Mayor Greenlaw will sign a proclamation welcoming the delegation and celebrating the important work between both cities.
This is a particularly important exchange visit considering the political connections and scope of the Kathmandu guests. We welcome the mayor of Kathmandu and his chief staff, the Deputy Director, International Relations Secretariat, Ongyel Sherpa with US Sherpa, and others. This level of commitment signals the important relationship between our two cities. This Exchange was built on the foundation of community support dating to April 2015 with the Rise Nepal earthquake tragedy response. Since April 2015, Fredericksburg-Nepal Exchange members, including Councilman Matt Kelly and his wife, Cynthia, traveled to Nepal for a political and cultural visit and trek through the Himalayan Mountains with staff from River Rock Outfitter. Other exchanges have occurred between the two cities to further various educational and charitable initiatives.
We encourage the public to get involved:
