Happy Summer from Fred-Este! During this season, our organization is gearing up for a packed and exciting start to Fall, including visitors traveling to and from Este, the return of Pizza Palooza, and numerous cultural activities! We can’t make all this happen without your participation and attendance… please read on to see how you can contribute.
Italian Friends in Fredericksburg, September 14-21!
A delegation of return visitors and new friends, including the Deputy Mayor of Este, will be here for a week and we’re at work planning a varied schedule of events for them. Please watch for future notices regarding specific volunteer opportunities, but to kick things off, we’re seeking some host families for our wonderful guests. Most are individuals, with one couple. If you can help host, please contact Scott and Cathy Walker, who are heading up the planning committee for this visit (email [email protected]).
Pizza Palooza!
Please mark September 15, 2018 on your calendars – our third annual Pizza Palooza festival in Market Square will feature our delegation from Italy! As in past years, we’re planning on four or five vendors, local celebrity judges, live music, pizza by the slice, wine and beer by the glass, and wonderful social time for all. We will need many volunteers to set up, sell entrance and drink tickets, man the membership and information booth, and clean up. Watch for a link to an online sign-up sheet, coming soon.
Your Turn to Visit Este – September 2018?
Call for participants to attend the annual Este International Festival the last weekend in September. All the representatives of Este’s sister cities will be there, and there will be much conversation about how the sister cities can support international cooperation. It’s a festive and wonderful event, and it is a great time to meet not only people in Este but also those representing Este’s sister cities. Housing will be provided, and participants will be called upon to talk about our sister city and how it participates in programs with Este. - November 9 Art Lecture: Nancy Heyward on the Piero della Francesca Trail (6:30 pm, St. George’s)
