6 Bears & A Goat Brewing Company is hosting a craft beer and music festival this August 4th and 5th at their location in Stafford County, Virginia. Freedom Fest will feature beer from seven guest Virginia craft breweries, a total of six local musical acts, as well as food trucks, vendors, and games.
Freedom Fest is described as a celebration of local craft beer, music, community and patriotism. “The idea for Freedom Fest was born from our belief that our community and region have some of the best craft beer and most talented musicians anywhere,” said Joanna Harkins, Events & Communications Specialist of the 15bbl independent craft brewery, “and we want to showcase that. We hope to grow this event into something bigger and better each year.”
Tickets to day one of the festival, Saturday August 4th, are selling for $30 online and will be $35 at the door. Tickets include admission/access to music from four bands, two food trucks and multiple vendors, plus a Freedom Fest pint glass and unlimited tastings from the total of eight breweries. Additional pints will be selling for $5.00. Beer & food will also be available inside the brewery. See a complete list of participating breweries and musicians below.
Day two of the festival, Sunday, August 5th has been dubbed “Acoustic Sunday” and will feature a more relaxed environment than Saturday. There will be a free morning yoga class at 11:15am. Two acoustic musicians will perform in the afternoon, and beer from 6 Bears & A Goat will be available both inside and outside. There will be no other breweries, vendors or food trucks. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets on both days to enjoy.
August 4th also marks the birthday of the U.S. Coast Guard, which six of the seven owners of 6 Bears & A Goat have retired from after a collective 140 years of service.
Freedom Fest follows two months after 6 Bears & Goat’s win as “Best Local Brewery” in the Free Lance-Star’s “Best of the Burg” competition, and just one month after winning a gold medal at the Virginia Craft Beer Cup as well as a bronze at the nation-wide US Open Beer Championship.
Participating Breweries: Adventure Brewing, Highmark Brewery, Strangeways Brewing Fredericksburg, Fair Winds Brewing, Adroit Theory Brewery, Brew Republic Bierwerks, Pale Fire Brewing.
Bands: Whiskey Revival, Ashleigh Chevalier Band, Cabin Creek, Jojo Bayliss Band, Laurie Rose Griffith and Peter Mealy, Graham Stone.
