Central Rappahannock Regional Library’s (CRRL) Monday night summer concert series, Music on the Steps, has received the Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority’s JumpStart! event sponsorship grant for the third year in a row. The $4750 awarded will be used entirely for performer fees.
In its 33rd year, CRRL’s Music on the Steps series has entertained residents in the greater Fredericksburg region and beyond. Music on the Steps performances are Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. for 12 weeks beginning in June. An all-ages event, families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets and relax on the Fredericksburg Branch’s front courtyard while musicians entertain them from the front steps. Concerts are held in the library theater during extreme heat or bad weather. In 2017, Music on the Steps was enjoyed by over 2,500 attendees, averaging more than 200 people at each performance.
With the Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority’s support, CRRL has been able to attract new performers. The 2018 season features five new performers, including nationally acclaimed blue artist Gaye Adegbalola, the season opener.
Upcoming 2018 performances:
July 9: Acoustic Onion
July 16: Don Brown’s Soul Experience
July 23: Lafayette Station
July 30: The Kingbolts
August 6: Hazel Run
August 13: Elby Brass
