From Stafford County Public Schools
The Stafford County School Board on Tuesday elected Patricia Healy as its new chair. Fellow board members were unanimous in their support and nominated no other board members to lead them. They cast their votes without discussion.
Ms. Healy has served as the Rock Hill representative on the School Board since January 1, 2000. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Literature from University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a Doctor Juris degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
Ms. Healy moved to Stafford County in 1985 and joined her husband in a private law practice in North Stafford in 1986. She first became involved in Stafford County Public Schools in 1998, when her daughter entered kindergarten and she helped her daughter’s school PTO raise much needed funding for a new playground.
The Board also voted for DeWayne McOsker as the vice chair.
Mr. McOsker serves the George Washington district and hails from Manhasset, New York. In 1984, he enlisted in the Army as a Military Police Soldier. After three years of service and achieving the rank of Sergeant, he ended his tour of service and used the “GI Bill” to attend college at New York Institute of Technology on Long Island. He graduated in 1990 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps. After tours of duty in such locations as Korea, Germany, Haiti, Turkey, and Iraq, Mr. McOsker retired from the Army and now works in Washington D.C.
He earned a Master’s Degree in Management and is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute (FEI), Charlottesville, Virginia.
Mr. McOsker is married to Vanessa and has four children in the Stafford County Public School system. In his free time, he enjoys involvement with the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Veterans of Foreign Wars, University of Mary Washington Bagpipe Band, and USA Swimming.
