Interstate 95 Exit 130/Route 3/Fredericksburg Interchange Improvement Project

Construction is underway to improve safety on Interstate 95 and Route 3 at the Exit 130 interchange in Fredericksburg. Motorists should be prepared for the following lane closures, construction activity, and temporary traffic shifts on Route 3, I-95 at Exit 130 and/or Central Park shopping area.

I-95 Southbound at Exit 130

(New) Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday ˗˗ 6 a.m. Friday, A single, right lane on I-95 southbound will be closed near the Exit 130/Route 3 interchange for construction activities related to the project. All lanes will reopen at 10 a.m. the following morning except on Friday at 6 a.m. Expect overnight delays near the interchange.

I-95 Northbound at Exit 130

(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m. The on-ramp carrying traffic from westbound Route 3 to I-95 northbound will be narrowed to allow crews to work safely along the shoulder of the ramp. Drivers should be alert to construction crews and equipment working along the shoulder of the ramp.

Exit 130B Off-Ramp

Monday ˗˗ Friday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 1 p.m. The Exit 130 off-ramp will be reduced to a single lane from I-95 southbound to Route 3 westbound at Carl D. Silver Parkway. All lanes will reopen at 1 p.m. the following day except on Friday, when all lanes will reopen at 6 a.m. Expect brief delays at the interchange.

Route 3 Eastbound

(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4 a.m. A single, right lane will be closed on Route 3 eastbound near the interchange.

Route 3 Westbound

(New) Tuesday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 11 a.m. A single, right lane will be closed on Route 3 westbound near the interchange.

Interstate 95 Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Work is underway to improve the deck and substructure on several bridges located on I-95 in Stafford and Spotsylvania.

Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Aquia Creek at mile marker 145

The I-95 bridges over Aquia Creek are located just after Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville) at mile marker 145.

I-95 Northbound:

o Monday, 12 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

o Tuesday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Expect alternating, single lane closures.

Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Potomac Creek at mile marker 137

The I-95 bridges over Potomac Creek are located just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) at mile marker 137.

I-95 Southbound: Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m.
- 9 p.m. – one lane closed
- 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
- 4:30 a.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 10 a.m. the following morning.

I-95 Northbound: Tuesday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m.
- Single right lane closed.

Spotsylvania County: I-95 Bridge over Ni River at mile marker 121

The I-95 bridges over the Ni River are located just south of Exit 126/Massaponax at mile marker 121.

I-95 Northbound:

o Monday, 12 p.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m. single, left lane closed

o Tuesday –Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m. single, left lane closed

o Monday –Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m.

9 p.m. – one lane closed
10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
All lanes re-open by 4:30 a.m. the following morning.

I-95 Southbound:

Monday –Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m.
9 p.m. – one lane closed
10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
4:30 a.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 10 a.m. the following morning.

Interstate 95 at Exit 118/Mudd Tavern Road Widening and Bridge Replacement Project

Crews are working to improve the interchange on Interstate 95 at Exit 118 (Mudd Tavern Road). The project will build a new I-95 overpass and improve on and off-ramps on Mudd Tavern Road, improve Mudd Tavern Road east of I-95, and Mallard Road.

Interstate 95 Southbound Off-Ramp

(New) Tuesday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The Exit 118 off-ramp which carries traffic from I-95 southbound to Mudd Tavern Road will be reduced to a single lane for storm sewer installation. Drivers should be alert to construction crews and equipment working in the right lane and right shoulder of the ramp. Expect brief delays at the interchange.

Interstate 95 Southbound at Exit 118

Tuesday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. A single, left lane on I-95 southbound will be closed at the interchange for construction activities. Expect brief delays.

Interstate 95 Northbound at Exit 118

Tuesday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. A single, left lane on I-95 northbound will be closed at the interchange for construction activities. Expect brief delays.

Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road)

(New) Tuesday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Mudd Tavern Road near the Exit 118 interchange for storm sewer installation. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Stafford County Work Zones

Route 17 (Warrenton Road)

(New) Tuesday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 17 between Short Street and I-95 on- and off-ramps for bridge inspection. Expect brief delays.

Route 3 Westbound Business

Monday, 12 p.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. and Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Expect a single lane closure on Route 3 westbound near the flyover to Blue Gray Parkway for guardrail repair. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone Expect brief delays.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) at Shenandoah Lane

Sunday ˗˗ Saturday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m. Motorists can expect alternating single lane closures overnight on Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) from Shenandoah Lane to Travis Lane for a milling and paving operation. This work is connected to the Stafford County widening of Garrisonville Road.

Route 628 (Eskimo Hill Bridge)

(New) Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 7 p.m. ˗˗ 7 a.m. Expect alternating, one way traffic on Eskimo Hill Road at the bridge over CSX railroad tracks for bridge repairs. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone, which is near Montague Loop. Expect brief, overnight delays.

Route 630 (Courthouse Road)

(Update) Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Courthouse Road between Cedar Lane and Monument Drive for clearing/trimming trees, installing concrete barrier and pipe work as part of the widening project. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Route 1389 (Ridge Pointe Lane)

Monday, 12 p.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. and Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Ridge Pointe Lane near Deacon Road for guardrail repair. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays near the work zone.

Spotsylvania County Work Zones

Route 1 and Harrison Road

(New) Thursday, 8:30 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Expect single, alternating lane closures on Route 1 and Harrison Road to allow crews to inspect the traffic signals at the intersection as part of the final construction activities with the widening and intersection improvement project.

Caroline County Work Zone

Route 17 (Tidewater Trail)

(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Tidewater Trail near Snowden Road for guardrail repair. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Caroline County/King George County Work Zone

Route 301 at Rappahannock River (James Madison Bridge)

(New) Thursday ˗˗ Friday, 6:30 a.m. ˗˗ 6 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane on Route 301 northbound and southbound from near the James Madison Bridge over the Rappahannock River for the bridge rehabilitation project. Expect brief delays on the bridge and at the bridge approaches.

Gloucester County Work Zone

Route 17 (George Washington Memorial Highway)

(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 3 p.m. Expect the right lane to be closed on Route 17 near Davenport Road intersection to allow crews to replace a utility pole. Expect brief delays.

Lancaster County/Middlesex County Work Zone

Route 3 and Robert O. Norris Bridge Temporary Weight Limit Posting REMOVED

The temporary 15-ton vehicle weight limit has been removed from Norris Bridge. Vehicles carrying up to the legal load limit of 40 tons, and up to 45 tons with a blanket permit, are permitted to cross the bridge.

King and Queen County Work Zone

Route 605 (Plain View Lane)

(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 605 (Plain View Lane) near Bellevue Lane for guardrail repair. Expect brief delays.

King William County Work Zone

Route 360

(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 360 eastbound and westbound near Mount Pleasants Road and at the Moncuin Creek Bridge for guardrail repair. Expect brief delays.
