Charity DellaCamera fell in love with craft beer in California, and she’s planning to share that love among the Fredericksburg area’s growing brewing scene.
DellaCamera is opening Fred Vegas Brew Tours to provide tours of area breweries and brewpubs. The company’s launch party will be at Maltese Brewing Company on the 24th from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
“Fred Vegas Brew Tours offers public and private tours to breweries all around Fredericksburg,” DellaCamera said. “Each tour will feature three different breweries, where all passengers will enjoy a beer tasting of locally brewed craft beer. At least one stop will consist of a guided behind the scenes tour of the brewing process.”
“My business was created to help shed light on the amazing craft beer scene that is developing here in Fredericksburg and to create a safe and fun way for people to experience the breweries we are so lucky to have available to us,” DellaCamera said.
DellaCamera is from the area, but learned about craft beer in San Diego.
“My dad is a retired Marine, so I grew up here in the Fredericksburg area,” DellaCamera said. “I left for several years and lived in several states and even another country. While I was gone I was lucky enough to live in the San Diego area, and the beer scene there is so prominent that I quickly fell in love with craft beer. Once I landed back in town this past year, I was THRILLED to find out that Virginia was starting to explode with craft beer, even my beloved city of Fredericksburg.”
“While I loved all of the places i’ve been blessed with the opportunity to go, my heart is here in Fredericksburg,” DellaCamera said. “I want people to recognize what we have to offer not just in the craft beer scene but the restaurants, the small businesses, the people…all things I want to shed light on along the tours.”
DellaCamera said the Fredericksburg area is special because it has some great local breweries but also is close to beer scenes around Virginia.
“I think we have a pretty diverse group of breweries,” DellaCamera said. “There is an array of beers and brewing styles used in many of our breweries which appeal to lots of different tastes. Not only do we have several breweries within a few miles of each other, but we have amazing hole-in-the-wall places that serve up unique craft beer and shops such as the Fredericksburg Brew Exchange, which carries up to 12 craft beers on tap, many which are from Virginia.
“Outside of Fredericksburg you don’t have to go far to end up in Charlottesville Lorton and other NOVA cities, and of course Richmond where Stone Brewing recently opened their second location from Escondido, CA. We are in the PERFECT place surrounded by good people and great beer.”
