CTI celebrates business anniversary with scholarships

CTI Real Estate celebrated its 13th anniversary in business by giving away scholarships to 13 students preparing to graduate from high school.

Michelle Caldwell Thompson, founder of CTI, said the company has added a scholarship for each year they’ve been around ever since the program started 10 years ago.

“We’re determined to give back to the communities we serve in a tangible way,” Thompson said.

Thompson said their scholarship program is unusual because they don’t limit recipients to those applying for a four-year degree.

“Real estate is a trade–you don’t need a four-year degree,” Thompson said. “We want to highlight people who are not only going to a four-year school, but to trade school or community college as well.”

Caityn Paige Godsey, a Stafford High School student who is planning to attend Virginia Tech, received $1000 from CTI. Allyson Ann Gray from Spotsylvania received $500 for her UMW education. The other students received $250.

While most of the recipients go to school locally, Thompson said the competition is open nationally.

“Many of our clients have worked with us here, but are in the military and been reassigned,” Thompson said. “They remember our scholarship and apply, though. We love maintaining that connection to them.”

“This region has really embraced us, and we wanted to give back,” Thompson said. “It makes my hear feel full.”
