Alan Chalmers Fine Menswear is opening at 205 Hanover St. in downtown Fredericksburg, with a grand opening scheduled March 3 – 5, 2017.
Sam Thomas of Fredericksburg and Dina Alan of Richmond collaborated on the store. Dina owns Alan Furs and Bash Boutique at 804 Caroline St, which is just around the corner from Alan Chalmers Fine Menswear.
“We saw a need for a men’s clothing store in downtown Fredericksburg,” Thomas said. “Our store will offer unique preppy brands that you can’t find anywhere else in the area.” These include Southern Tide, Fish Hippie, Collared Greens, and GenTeal Apparel. The shop will also offer personalized styling advice, full service tailoring, and tuxedo rentals.
The store name comes from Dina “Alan” and Samuel “Chalmers” Thomas.
“We are extremely excited to bring a store for fine menswear to the heart of downtown Fredericksburg,” Thomas said. “The incredible community of downtown merchants has been wonderful as we prepare to open.”
Store hours are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12 – 5 p.m. Sunday.
For the grand opening, hours will be extended until 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There will be specials, door prizes, and raffles all weekend. On Saturday, March 4, food provided by M. W. Johnson’s BBQ will be served from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Jeremy Gray and Christal Blue from Thunder 104.5 will be broadcasting live from 12 – 2 p.m.
