Central Rappahannock Regional Library (CRRL) is requesting an additional library branch for Spotsylvania County.
The proposal will be discussed at the January 18, 2017, Spotsylvania County Planning Commission meeting, as part of the FY2018-22 Capital Improvements Program Comprehensive Plan Conformity Review.
From the Project Summary for Massaponax Library
“Provide a new regional library branch to serve the existing Lee Hill, Battlefield, and Berkeley district populations and to plan ahead for anticipated population growth in the general Massaponax area. Options for the new facility could include a traditional 30,000 square-foot branch similar to the Salem Church library, a store front facility which could be located at a retail venue, or a partnership (such as with Germanna Community Library). A study planned in FY 2018 will provide recommendations for the siting and type of the library branch.”
The project, which is currently estimated at $12,865,000, would have planning and design begin in fiscal year (FY) 2018, property acquisition in FY 2020, and construction in FY 2021 – 2022.
The meeting is at 7 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Room at the Holbert Building, 9104 Courthouse Rd., in Spotsylvania.
Central Rappahannock Regional Library serves Fredericksburg (Headquarters Branch), Spotsylvania (Salem Church Branch and Snow Branch), Stafford County (England Run Branch and Porter Branch), and Westmoreland County (Cooper Branch, Montross Branch, and Newton Branch).
