“The Merchants of Upper William Street are proud to be the first downtown Fredericksburg businesses to complete the mannequin challenge,” said Azadeh Rahmani, owner of The Silver Stag-Vintage Revival House at 807 William St.

The mannequin challenge is a viral Internet video trend in which people remain frozen in action like mannequins while a video is recorded. The “mannequins” in the Upper William Street Merchant’s video are related to the businesses.

Rahmani and fellow business owners Reina Pacheco and Robert Gonzales of Soup and Taco II, 806 William St., and Edwin and Heather Grimes of Sugar Shack Donuts, 801 William St., collaborated on a Mannequin Challenge video as a Small Business Saturday promotion.

Rahmani said the businesses “represent the gateway to downtown Fredericksburg,” and the owners and their families have developed strong professional and personal relationships. “We take pride in our relationships as business owners, and in the role we play in our community,” she said.

On Small Business Saturday, which is November 26, 2016, the first 10 customers to spend $50 or more at The Silver Stag will received a swag bag filled with gifts, including candles, potpourri, and a coupon for a Sugar Shack donut.

The characters in the video representing the businesses are:

1 – Cashier handing shopping bag to customer: Azadeh Rahmani, owner and lead designer at The Silver Stag.

2 – Person hanging necklaces on display: Krissy Donahoe, local jewelry artist specializing in hand stamped vintage silverware jewelry.

3 – Person displaying glass jewelry by the mantle: Julie Borland, local artist specializing in one-of-a-kind fused glass jewelry.

4 – Person painting furniture: Erica Goodman, local furniture artist and designer specializing in custom artist painted furniture pieces.

5 – Kids on the steps: Gabriel Goodman (Erica’s son), and Landon Donahoe (Krissy’s son).

6 – Soup and Taco II server and family member Robert Galan.

7 – Person taking selfies in front of the Sugar Shack sign: Olivia Grimes, Sugar Shack owner’s daughter.

8 – Man behind doughnut counter serving customers: Edwin Grimes, Sugar Shack owner.

9 – Person catching the doughnut mid-air (wearing flannel shirt): Ed Grimes, owner’s son and Sugar Shack manager.
