Fredericksburg Main Street Presents Branding Survey Results

by | Jul 20, 2016 | Business

Fredericksburg VA Main Street Inc. (FMSI) presented the results of their branding survey at the July 2016 meeting of the Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority.

The survey was administered in 2015 by Higashi Glaser Design, the company chosen by FMSI to create the brand identity for Fredericksburg Main Street and Fredericksburg Downtown.

Just under 70 businesses and some 500 residents responded to the survey, according to FMSI Executive Director Ann Glave. Key brand attributes were developed from their responses. They are, in order of survey results:

– Family Friendly Atmosphere
– Small Town Charm
– Scenic River and Outdoor Activities
– Fine Food
– Historic Authenticity
– Walking and Bike Paths
– One-of-a-Kind Shops
– Neighborly Community
– Down-to-Earth Lifestyle
– Vibrant Music and Arts
– Proximity to Major Metropolitan Centers

Glave and FMSI Past President Scarlett Pons also presented the new branding plan and logo for Fredericksburg Downtown. They asked that Fredericksburg Today not yet release it to the public, as they are meeting one-on-one with members of City Council and city staff before making a public presentation later this summer.

“One directive from the [branding] task force was for the branding to be complimentary of the city’s existing tourism brand, “Fredericksburg Timeless,” Pons said. “This [branding] is a huge milestone for our group; the next corner stone in our foundation,” she said.

FMSI is also planning for a new website. They are reviewing RFPs (requests for proposals) that have been submitted, and plan to make a decision on a web designer by the end of July.
