The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Department and the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Company are hosting child friendly displays at the Rappahannock Railroad Museum. The museum will also offer its Americana train ride along Deep Run — arrive by 10:40 a.m. for the ride.

12th Annual Spotsylvania Stars and Stripes Spectacular
Saturday, July 2, 3 – 10 p.m.
Spotsylvania Court House Area
Free kids’ activities, live music on three stages, food vendors, historic tours, fireworks.
There will be free parking behind the courthouse at 9119 Dean Ridings Lane. Free shuttle buses will be available beginning at 2:45 p.m. from Courtland High School, 6701 Smith Station Rd. $5 parking will be available at Courthouse Village, at the corner of Brock Road and Courthouse Road. Proceeds benefit the Fredericksburg Christian Health Clinic.
Battlefield Campfire Program at Sunken Road

Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center, 1013 Lafayette Blvd., Fredericksburg
Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park rangers will talk around a campfire about the realities of darkness on the battlefields.
Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and flashlights. All programs are family (and pet) friendly, and free of charge.

The Fabulous Fourth at Ferry Farm: “We the People”
Monday, July 4, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
A day of activities at Ferry Farm, George Washington’s boyhood home. Learn about archaeology at Ferry Farm, enjoy a patriotic flag retirement ceremony, interact with colonial and Civil War
re-enactors as well as members of the Patawomeck tribe, listen to patriotic music, and participate in educational programs, crafts and games, and hands-on activities for the whole family.
Catch a free bus or trolley from the Heritage Festival in downtown Fredericksburg, or from the Eagles Lodge, 21 Cool Springs Rd. in Stafford. Ferry Farm parking will be handicapped only.
$1 admission. Please no pets, coolers, or alcohol.
Fourth of July at John Lee Pratt Memorial Park
Monday, July 4, 4:30 – 10 p.m.
John Lee Pratt Memorial Park at 120 River Rd. in Fredericksburg, will open at 4:30 p.m. Park gates will close at 8:45 p.m., or when the park reaches capacity.
Bring lawn chairs and picnic dinners. Food vendors will be available.
No alcoholic beverages. No sparklers. No tents in concert area. No grills. Dogs must be on leashes.
