Vote for Eileen’s Bakery in the Virginia Culinary Challenge

Eileen’s Bakery and Cafe, 1115 Caroline St., Fredericksburg, is a finalist in Virginia Tourism Corporation’s 2016 Culinary Challenge for Bakeries and Desserts.

You can vote online once a day everyday through 5 p.m. Thursday, April 14. The winner will be announced at noon on Friday, April 15.

Trista Couser opened Eileen’s Bakery and Cafe in 2005, shortly after moving from Vail, Colorado, to Fredericksburg. “Quality, consistency, and a courteous staff are key ingredients in what makes Eileen’s a local favorite place to relax and enjoy delicious desserts and other bakery items,” Patricia Keppel wrote in her blog “15 Virginia Bakeries To Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth. All of the pastries and breads are made fresh daily by hand.

Bakeries and Desserts is the fourth of five rounds in the 2016 Virginia Culinary Challenge.

Fredericksburg’s Kybecca, located at 402 William St., won the first round, Best Small Bites.

Allman’s Bar-B-Q, 1299 Jefferson Davis Hwy. in Fredericksburg, placed third in round two, Burgers and BBQ.

Round 3 was Oysters and Seafood. White Dog Bistro in Mathews, Va., was the winner. There were no Fredericksburg nominees.

Round 5 is Local Hot Spots, with nominees announced on Monday, April 18, and voting from 9 a.m. Monday through 5 p.m. Thursday, April 21.
