“Argueta was honored for her motivation and her leadership working with children through EFK,” said Dori Roberts, president and CEO of Engineering For Kids.
Engineer and NASA astronaut Leland Melvin presented the award, which included $500.
Argueta plans to pursue a career in mechanical engineering, and in large part attributes her passion to her father and brother always building things when she was growing up.
Engineering For Kids (EFK), a national after-school S.T.E.M. education company, developed the Engineering for Kids Foundation in 2014. As part of the Foundation, the mentorship program matches talented and inspired high school engineering students and faculty with elementary students who lack the opportunity to learn about the field of engineering in their schools.
