VDOT traffic hot spots for the Fredericksburg region December 27, 2015, through January 2, 2016.

Fredericksburg
Fall Hill Avenue
(New) Beginning Monday (December 28, 2015) motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on eastbound Fall Hill Avenue between the 7-Eleven store and Wegmans. Crews will be paving in this area. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone on the following days:
· Monday, Noon – 3 p.m.
· Tuesday – Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
· Thursday, 9 a.m. – noon

Under Construction: Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project will be completed in January 2017.

Stafford County
Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Monday –Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Hwy) – shoulder work
· Route 604 (Belle Plains Rd) – brush cutting
· Route 607 (Butler Rd) – brush cutting
· Route 624 (Leeland Rd) – should work

Under Construction: Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction activity is underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road). The project will build double left turn lanes on eastbound Garrisonville Road for traffic turning onto Onville Road; triple left turn lanes on Onville Road for traffic turning onto eastbound Garrisonville Road and a pedestrian crossing on the north side of Garrisonville Road, crossing Onville Road. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction and the posted speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph in the work zone. The project will be completed in May 2017.

Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. This project will be completed by December 2016.

Spotsylvania County
Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road)
Monday-Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Single lane closure for paving work. Traffic will be controlled by a flagging crew. This paving work is part of the VDOT construction project to add turn lanes at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 606.

Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 626 (Andora Dr) – patching
· Route 605 (Marye Rd) – brush cutting
· Route 656 (Towles Mill Rd) – shoulder work
· Route 604 (Blanton Rd) – brush cutting
· Route 612 (West Catharpin Rd) – ditching
· Route 639 (Smith Station Rd) – shoulder work

Caroline County
Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 721 (Sparta Rd) – litter pickup
· Route 630 (Sparta Rd) – litter pickup
· Route 639 (Ladysmith Rd) – shoulder work

Under Construction: Route 648 (Sunshine Road) Bridge Replacement
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) in Caroline County is closed to through traffic. Crews are replacing a bridge approximately 1.1 miles from Route 647. Motorists should follow posted detour signs. The estimated completion date for this project is January 2016.
