University of Mary Washington (UMW) Athletics is hosting a “Community Night” to dedicate the Ron Rosner Arena. The free admission event begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, in the William M. Anderson Center.
Rosner, founder and chairman of the board for the Rosner Automotive Group, donated the money to establish the $500,000 Ron Rosner Athletic Endowment, which will support the UMW athletic program to benefit student-athletes and the local community, according to UMW. In return, an arena within the university’s William M. Anderson Center will be named the Ron Rosner Arena.
The dedication ceremony will be held during half time of the December 16 UMW Men’s Basketball game. The team is playing Virginia Wesleyan, currently ranked #15 in the nation.
Attendees are encouraged to wear gray and navy in support of the UMW Eagles.
The William M. Anderson Center is located on the Fredericksburg campus of the University of Mary Washington. Parking is available in the UMW Parking Deck. Enter from Route 1 by the UMW Pedestrian Bridge near Eagle Village Shopping Center.
