VDOT traffic alerts for the Fredericksburg region December 13 – 19, 2015.

Fredericksburg
Under Construction Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project will be completed in January 2017.

Spotsylvania County
Route 208
(New) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Crews will be line striping in both directions on Route 208 from the north end of the bridge over Lake Anna to Route 601 (Lawyers Road). Motorists should expect delays and avoid passing in this slow moving mobile work zone.

Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Hwy) – brush cutting
· Route 17 (Mills Drive) – brush cutting
· Route 647 (Blaydes Corner Road) – brush cutting
· Route 646 (Stansfield Road) – shoulder work
· Route 617 (Hams Ford Road) – tree trimming

Stafford County
Route 17 Paving
(New) Beginning Monday crews will be paving during the overnight hours on Route 17 northbound and southbound at the following locations:
Monday (8 p.m. – 6 a.m.)
Route 17 Northbound – between McLane Drive and International Parkway.
Tuesday (9 p.m. – 6 a.m.)
Route 17 Southbound – between Banks Ford Parkway and McLane Drive.

Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project
(New) Beginning Monday construction activity will be underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road). On Wednesday, Onville Road traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted to the east side of the road to allow construction to begin on the west side of the road.

The project will build double left turn lanes on eastbound Garrisonville Road for traffic turning onto Onville Road; triple left turn lanes on Onville Road for traffic turning onto eastbound Garrisonville Road and a pedestrian crossing on the north side of Garrisonville Road, crossing Onville Road.

Motorists should stay alert for temporary traffic patterns, workers, cones and barrels at the intersection. The work zone speed limit is 35 mph. The project’s estimated completion date is May 2017.

Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Hwy) – shoulder work
· Route 624 (Layhill Road) – shoulder work
· Route 627 (Enon Road) – brush cutting
· Route 625/626 (Leeland Road) – shoulder work
· Route 674 (Glebe Road) – machining road
· Route 627 (Mountain View Road) – shoulder work
· Route 666 (Aquia Creek Road) – ditching
· Route 604 (Belle Plains Road) – brush cutting
· Route 705 (Hartwood Church Road) – pipe replacement
· Route 1695 (Blossom Wood Court) – ditching
· Route 1856 (Tabor Court) – concrete work

Under Construction: Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. This project will be completed by December 2016.

Caroline County
Route 30
(Update) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Crews will be line striping on eastbound and westbound Route 30 from the east end of the North Anna Bridge to just west of Route 652 (Signboard Road). Motorists should expect delays and avoid passing in this slow moving mobile work zone.

Route 301
(New) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Crews will be line striping in both directions on Route 301 from the Hanover/Caroline County line to Route 30. Motorists should expect delays and avoid passing in this slow moving mobile work zone.

Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 2 (Fredericksburg Turnpike) – ditching
· Route 17 (Tidewater Trail) – mowing
· Route 301 (Richmond Turnpike) – shoulder work
· Route 627 (Mattoponi Trail Road) – ditching
· Route 625 (Passing Road) – pipe cleaning
· Route 693 (Herring Creek Road) – machine road
· Route 690 (Old CC Road) – machine road

Under Construction: (Update) Route 648 (Sunshine Road) Bridge Replacement
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) in Caroline County is closed to through traffic. Crews are replacing a bridge approximately 1.1 miles from Route 647. Motorists should follow posted detour signs. The estimated completion date for this project is January 2016.

Westmoreland County
Route 205 (Ridge Road)
(New) Beginning mid-day Tuesday, Dec. 15, Route 205 (Ridge Road) will be closed to traffic for approximately 48 hours for a pipe replacement project. The road will be closed just west of Riverview Circle. Motorists should use Route 631 (Longfield Road) to access Colonial Beach and other destinations. The work is expected to be complete by mid-day Thursday, Dec. 17.
